چکیده
The Madeiran wall lizard Teira dugesii is a relatively new species to the Azores Archipelago, where it was accidentally introduced about 150 200 years ago. This lacertid quickly became naturalised and now occurs in all nine main islands of Azores. At Praia Islet, off Graciosa Island, recently observed preying on chicks threatened Monteiro’s storm-petrel Hydrobates monteiroi . To characterise lizards’ trophic niche, we conducted study diet at using stable isotope analysis next-generation sequencing. Our results indicate that has varied diet, consisting least 23 invertebrate taxa, 17 plant species, occasionally, birds (two detected, including storm-petrels). Marine derived food items were present few samples, vital monitor interactions Islet ensure conservation this storm-petrel.

15 صفحه اولFirst insights into specificity of belowground tritrophic interactions
Tritrophic interactions involving plants, herbivores and parasites have been only recently documented for belowground systems, where entomopathogenic nematodes can exploit root herbivore induced volatile compounds to locate their hosts. Little is known, however, about whether the specificity of such interactions rivals that of the remarkable interactions found in aboveground studies. Using a be...
متن کاملMolecular insights into the colonization and chromosomal diversification of Madeiran house mice.
The colonization history of Madeiran house mice was investigated by analysing the complete mitochondrial (mt) D-loop sequences of 156 mice from the island of Madeira and mainland Portugal, extending on previous studies. The numbers of mtDNA haplotypes from Madeira and mainland Portugal were substantially increased (17 and 14 new haplotypes respectively), and phylogenetic analysis confirmed the ...
